Jakarta, August 24, 2024 — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) posted impressive financial performance in the first half of 2024, recording a net profit of IDR 29.7 trillion. This achievement marks a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2023, when BRI achieved a profit of IDR 25.8 trillion.

This profit growth was driven by an increase in loan disbursement, which reached IDR 1,200 trillion, up 12% from the first half of last year. This increase primarily came from the microfinance sector, which is BRI’s main focus, as well as the small and medium enterprises (SME) segment. Additionally, BRI successfully maintained asset quality with a low non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 2.2%, indicating effective risk management.

Operational efficiency also played a key role in this profit growth. BRI’s operational expense to operational income ratio (BOPO) decreased to 65%, an improvement from 67% in the same period last year. This reflects better productivity and cost control.

BRI President Director, Sunarso, stated that this positive achievement is the result of BRI’s digital transformation strategy, as well as the continuous enhancement of products and services to meet customer needs in the digital era. “We remain committed to improving financial inclusion and supporting national economic growth through more productive and sustainable loan disbursement,” he said.

Given these positive results, BRI is optimistic about maintaining strong financial performance through the end of 2024, with a target of higher profit growth and greater contributions to Indonesia’s economy.
